18th: Excavation and recovery operation in Panyu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province (March 2008)

- In response to the accident resulting in injury which occurred in June 2004 in Panyu District, Guangzhou, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried out an investigation operation in June 2005. After that, based upon the request from the Chinese Government, urgent excavation and recovery operations were carried out resulting in the excavation and recovery of 13 ACWs.
In May 2006 the existence of more shells was confirmed and excavation and recovery operations were executed by the Cabinet Office, Japan.
