Trial Excavation in Haerba-ling
On-site investigation in Haerba-ling was carried out from fiscal year 2008 to 2009 to study exact burial conditions of chemical weapons and soil conditions to determine methods for excavation and recovery as well as to validate these methods and safety measures.
Excavation and Recovery in other locations
To date, a total of 39 excavation and recovery operations has been carried out which resulted in the excavation and recovery of approximately 50,000 ACWs in China.

As of December 2012, including those recovered as a result of on-site investigations by the Foreign Ministry, a total of approximately 50,000 ACWs has been excavated and recovered.
Mobile Destruction
During the April 2007 Japan-China Prime Ministerial meeting, the Japanese side expressed their intention to introduce mobile destruction facilities to speed up destruction process.
Technology for destruction is under consideration in Japan. The Chinese side is doing internal coordination to receive the deployment. Both sides are working to realize an early introduction of the facilities.
